People all over the world are fond of sports and games. Sport makes people healthy, keeps them fit, more organized and better disciplined. Some people go in for sports for their health and some for professional aims. Practically all kinds of sports are popular in our country but football, figure-skating and tennis enjoy the greatest popularity. A lot of people are fond of jogging. In the morning and in the evening we can see people, jogging in the parks, stadiums and even in the streets. The OG have a very long history. They began more than two thousand years ago in Greece. The famous Games at Olympia took place every 4 years and all the cities in Greece sent their athletes to take part in them. The Games were very popular and thousands of Greeks used to watch them. It became a tradition even to stop wars for the time of the OG, and people lived in peace. The competitions lasted five days. The winners in each kind of sport or art got on olive wreath [‘ri:0] which was the highest honor. For a long time, from 394 till 1896, there were no OG. Since 1896 the best athletes of the world have met again every four years, as it was in Greece, long, long ago. The OG are always a great festival of sport, youth and beauty.
